A husband once asked his wife

A husband once asked his wife,

“When a man gets married, what does he lose — and what does he gain?”

The wife smiled gently and said,
“After marriage, a man loses his solitude, his freedom to make small decisions on his own, and his ability to act without thinking of consequences.
In return, he gains a companion for life, the mother of his children, and a home that gives him peace and stability.”

The husband looked surprised.
“That’s all? Doesn’t he gain happiness?”

With a calm smile, the wife replied,
“Happiness always comes from within us.
If we see marriage as a bond where we share joy and sorrow together, we’ll be happy.
But if we see it as a loss of freedom, we’ll only feel miserable.”

After a pause, the husband asked,
“Tell me — do you love me more, or our children?”

Without hesitation, the wife said,
“Of course, the children.”

The husband, curious, asked,
“Why?”

The wife replied softly,
“Because they are a part of me — my blood, my soul.”

The husband smiled faintly and said,
“And what about me?”

The wife answered,
“You are my companion on this journey — sometimes you bring me joy, and sometimes pain.”

After that conversation, the husband sat silently, thinking,
Is marriage truly built on sacrifice? And does that sacrifice always receive its due reward?

The truth is, in most households, a woman’s role is rarely appreciated —
even though the entire family revolves around her.
She quietly bears the weight of everyone’s needs, keeps a smile on her tired face at the end of the day, and still gets blamed when things go wrong.

If a child gets hurt, people say, “The mother wasn’t careful.”
If the child misbehaves, they say, “The mother failed to teach good manners.”
If the husband falls sick, they say, “The wife didn’t take care of him.”

But the truth is, a woman plays a sacred, extraordinary role.
She is a school — and even more than that!
She’s a doctor who heals wounds,
a nurse who stays awake through the night in care,
a teacher who instills values,
and a library full of wisdom — wisdom that beats with a living heart.

My deepest respect to every woman who, with devotion, fulfills her responsibilities —
who sacrifices her comfort, peace, and happiness for others,
and who, despite endless challenges, manages to bring smiles to the faces around her.

O woman, smile freely — be proud of yourself.
You are the creator of generations,
the source of the world’s strength, and the fountain of its love.
