There are some things in this world that have no replacement.
For example — the friend who, during your days of unemployment, understood your empty pockets and quietly paid the tea bill from his own limited money — there is no substitute for that person.
The lover who stayed by your side even after knowing about your poverty or helplessness — there is no replacement for them either.
The person who, upon noticing your sadness, gently placed a hand on your head and said, “Don’t be afraid, I’m here” — no one can ever take their place.
One day, you’ll have many things — wealth, success, and lots of people around you. Friends, relatives, and well-wishers will hover near you, eagerly waiting to please you, always asking if you need anything. But they’re not your true people — they are merely flies drawn by the scent of your good fortune.
Your real people are those who stood by you without expecting anything in return — sometimes like a roof over your head, sometimes like the ground beneath your feet. They were the ones who gave you the courage to live when no one else was there for you.
If ever a day comes when you start to sink, remember — all the springtime cuckoos will fly away, leaving you behind. So losing the friends who stood by you during your hardest, poorest days is like losing a part of your very existence.
Because those friends — can never be replaced.
